Code 3 for a Cure

Ryan, my son, and I traveled from Foley AL to Montgomery AL yesterday, July 3, 2008,  to meet up with the Code 3 for a Cure crew from L.A. California.  My husband, Doug, was on his way home for the 4th of July weekend, and he met us there in Montgomery.  We were to meet the crew about 4 PM and of course they were running behind.  With all of their travels I was amazed that it was not farther behind than it actually was.  I think it was about 6 PM when they drove into the fire station.   It was a thrilling site to see them drive in as I had been following their journey through their web site.  If you have not seen it you really need to look at it.  www.code3foracure.comThe crews main purpose is to raise awareness of cancer in firefighters.  They have collected names of firefighters who have lost their battle to cancer and they had one ceremony in NY and there will be another in L.A. when they return home.  It is a very special thing they are doing for the fallen firefighters and their families.

The fire truck the crew is traveling in and being followed by a red and white van.  It makes a pretty package.

Lorenzo is 10 year LMS survivor and a bladder cancer survivor.  They were not aware of NLMSF until I contacted them from a google alert I read about their cross country trip in a fire truck, raising awareness for cancer in firefighters and that Lorenzo was a 10 year LMS survivor.

Thumbs up to those who have been fortunate enough to beat this thing called LeioMyoSarcoma.  Lorenzo and Jane being two of them!  Lorenzo 10 years and Jane 9 years.  We are very proud and happy to be here to have our picture taken!

This is the donated fire truck that the Code 3 crew is traveling in and the car that is following the truck.  The truck does not exactly have the most comfortable ride, as you can imagine.
