We were blessed with a precious gift from God for the past 61 years, Barbara Ann Paris Greenwell. She was
a loving wife, inspiring mother, loyal sister, and devoted friend. Barbara was married to Wayne for 41
wonderful years. They had three children, Kim (39), Keith (37), and Kathy (35), and 8 grandchildren whom
she doted on daily. The family’s years together were filled with an abundance of love, faith, and
laughter. Barbara was a devout Catholic. Her faith in God gave her strength and courage
every minute of everyday. She was an active member of many groups at her church in Lanesville, Indiana.
She loved to cook (especially Christmas cookies), read, play games with her family and travel. Her
favorite place to be was on a beach, holding Wayne’s hand or a grandbaby’s hand, looking for what she called “treasures”.
She never met a stranger and was always willing to pray with those who wanted her to. She never
let her illness stop her. Whether in a grocery store; a hospital receiving chemo or one of her many blood
transfusions, Barbara would always take the time to show she cared by listening and offering a prayer.
In 2001, doctors diagnosed a tumor on her vena cava as LMS. Over the next 6 ½ years, Barbara
never stopped fighting the fight or living her life. She treated everyday as a gift, keeping a positive
outlook and smile on her face even to her last breath. Her strength, love, and faith continue to amaze
and inspire those of us who were lucky to have known her. We will miss you dearly. “Be brave. Be Strong. And Live!!”- Barbara
